Wednesday's Daily Verse

"Be angry, and do not sin": do not let the sun go down on your wrath.  Ephesians 4:26 NKJV

Anger is a God-given emotion, just like love or joy. There are certain things that God wants us to be angry about, like sin.  However, once we begin to experience this emotion of anger, we need to watch ourselves.  God calls us to be angry without sinning. For example, when you are in the car driving and someone cuts you off or won't let you switch lanes at rush hour, you might get angry.  And that anger is ok, however, it is not ok to lash out at them or those in your vehicle because someone upset you.  We are not responsible for the actions of others, only ourselves.  Shake off the anger and pray for the offender.  It is like my father-in-law says (as he looks at the one who wronged him), "I just want to know who I am praying for."

Also, make sure you do not go to bed angry.  As stated above, God gives us many emotions.  He doesn't want us to always be angry.  If you go to bed with unresolved anger, chances are you are not going to rest peacefully and that anger is going to build.  With this mounting anger, the temptation to sin will also escalate.  Make time to pray and ask God to ease your anger and show you the best way to move forward.
